Tæsca (tæːska) is the Murgaen name for the range of forested hills to the north-east of Harnsey, east of Milardus. The name is derived from the Davan word tásqa (tɑ:skʷɑ) meaning place of many shadows, an apt name given the many shadowy regions under its great boughs.
There are even hints that the word has older origins, prior to the arrival of the Davan people into Westáhal. The Unnu people may have shared a similar word for the region. However, that is pure speculation. While there is a great deal of academic debate about the Unnu language, it is practically impossible to know for certain, as it pre-exists all known forms of writing1.
